Redesigning relationships series part 7 - understanding the healing potential of everyday people

Updated: Apr 29

Looking beyond the woo-woo and understanding the healing potential of everyday people has the capacity to transform your life completely.

Not only do we have untapped potential to heal ourselves, but we also have a significant capacity to heal and be healed by the inputs of everyday people all around us. In the world that we live in, this idea may feel like a big claim. On the contrary, it is something that is greatly understated in our lives.

The relationships that you develop in all areas of your life can be formed, with people who have both the power to heal and be healed, as a result of the interactions in your relationship. There is absolutely no woo-woo in this claim.

Unfortunately for many people, when the word healer comes up in conversation, it invokes a whole lot of social and cultural conditioning. For some people, healers are a natural part of everyday life. However, for others, they can be as extreme as the concept of cults and witch doctors. When in reality, we all can heal and be healers in some way.

I think it is important to understand that professional healers are just everyday people like you and me.

Do you know healers in your life? Are you blinkered by social and cultural conditioning from your childhood, that keeps your focus on only one type of healing methodology?

Professional healers can be everything from a doctor to a physio, reiki practitioner, iridologist, kinesiologist, massage therapists and many more. These people provide professional services at a cost and are regulated by many different regulatory bodies. There are endless options available to us to heal everyday ailments, conditions and disease. The more expansive you are to the potential healing benefits that these people can bring, the greater your chance for a better outcome, whatever life throws at you.

In our lives, we are surrounded by people who have lived a very different experience from our own. These experiences bring with them lessons, knowledge and wisdom that we may not have been exposed to ourselves. This may be simply because someone we know could have utilised the professional services of healers that we didn't know existed. When we expand our horizons, we can discover new opportunities to learn and grow.

As a Mindfulness Coach, I often get asked what it is that I do. Many healing professionals get asked the same questions. Sometimes because we don't know about their field of healing, and we discount it out of ignorance. Yet when you take a closer look, you discover the potential for it to be greatly beneficial in your life.

The ability to redesign the relationships you have with healers of all kinds in your life can bring you great benefits. Sometimes it is simply about keeping your mind and heart open to the potential. Healing isn't all about what we can see, just like life isn't all available to us via our vision. Sometimes a little trust and some courage to try something new turns out to be exactly what you needed.

So next time you are stuck somewhere in your life, try reaching out to your friends, trusted colleagues or family members, and you might be surprised that they know someone who might be able to help you in ways you had never imagined.

We live in a world brimming with highly talented people who have skills that we are yet to uncover. Healers are usually driven to support healing in others in a very purposeful way. They literally could be your friends, colleagues, family or neighbours.

We are all in this thing called life together, so let's work together to support all our healing, whether it be emotionally, physically, mentally or energetically.

Build on your experiences and share them with others in your circle and beyond. You never know when something you share can heal another.

In the varied circles, I have moved within in life, I have had the opportunity to be exposed to many healing modalities both personally and professionally.

In my business, I have referred clients to many healing practitioners. My clients have often had great success trying new styles of treatments that they didn't even know existed previously. Mindfulness has helped many of them open up to the potential of both healing themselves, and supporting the healing of others in their lives.

Would you like to know more about how mindfulness can help you to understand the healing potential of everyday people?

The power to heal begins with you.
